Why people use TimerStopwatch.com
Rings on time in the background
The alarm is scheduled ahead on the browser’s audio clock, so tab throttling cannot make it late.
Survives a reload
Start and end times are saved on your device. Close the tab, come back, and the clock is exactly where it should be.
Full screen, screen awake
Huge digits for the classroom, gym or kitchen, and the screen is kept on while a timer runs.
Private by design
No account, no cookies, no tracking. Your settings and laps never leave your browser.
Works offline
Once loaded, every tool keeps working without a connection — and you can install it to your home screen.
Keyboard friendly
Space to start and pause, L for a lap, R to reset, F for full screen.
How to use the online timer
Set the time
Type hours, minutes and seconds, tap the number pad (1-0-0-0 is ten minutes) or pick a preset such as 5 or 25 minutes.
Press Start
Or press Space. The ring shows the time left and the tab title counts down, so you can see it from any tab.
Hear the alarm
When it reaches zero the alarm rings and the face counts the time since. Press Stop alarm, or +1 min to snooze.
How to use the stopwatch
Start timing
Open the Stopwatch tab and press Start or Space.
Record laps
Press Lap or L at each lap or split. The fastest and slowest laps are highlighted as you go.
Stop and export
Stop with Space, then copy the laps or download them as a CSV file for a spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a timer and a stopwatch?
A timer counts down from a duration you set and alerts you when it reaches zero — for cooking, workouts or a classroom activity. A stopwatch counts up from zero to measure how long something takes, and can record laps and split times along the way. Both are on this page: switch between them with the tabs above the clock.
Is TimerStopwatch.com free?
Yes. Every tool is free to use with no account, no download and no cookies. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install — though you can add the site to your home screen to use it like an app.
Will the alarm still ring if I switch to another tab?
Yes. Browsers slow down timers in background tabs, which is why many online timers ring late. TimerStopwatch.com schedules the alarm in advance on the browser’s audio clock, which is not throttled, so it rings on time even while you work in another tab. Turn on notifications to get a pop-up as well.
What happens if I reload or close the page?
Your timer or stopwatch carries on. The moment it started (or will end) is saved in your browser, so reopening the page picks up exactly where it should be — a stopwatch that ran while the tab was closed shows the full elapsed time. The alarm itself can only sound while the page is open.
How accurate is the online stopwatch?
The stopwatch reads the browser’s high-resolution clock and displays hundredths of a second. Elapsed time is calculated from timestamps rather than by counting ticks, so it does not drift however long it runs. In practice the limit is human reaction time — roughly 0.2 seconds to press a button — not the clock.
Can I use it full screen on a projector or TV?
Yes. Press the full-screen button (or F) and the digits grow to fill the display, which suits classrooms, gyms, kitchens and presentations. While a timer runs, the page asks the device to keep the screen awake.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, on any modern phone, tablet or computer, and it keeps working offline once loaded. On an iPhone, the Ring/Silent switch can mute website sounds, so turn silent mode off if you need to hear the alarm.
